FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Plain answers about visits, paying and comfort

01Do you take my insurance?

We bill most PPO dental plans and file the claim for you, and we check your benefits before your first visit. Whether we are in network depends on your plan, so call us and we'll tell you before you book. Our How fees work page lists what we handle for each kind of coverage.

02What if I don't have insurance?

You pay the fee for your visit, and we give you a written estimate in advance, at scheduling or when you ask. Financing is offered by third-party lenders. Approval and terms are set by the lender.

03Do you accept Medicaid or CHIP?

Call us and we'll tell you plainly, before you book, whether we take your plan, including Connecticut's HUSKY Health. Our How fees work page explains how we handle each kind of coverage.

04Will it hurt?

We numb the area before treatment that needs it, and you can raise your hand for a break at any time. Many people feel pressure rather than pain. Tell us what you feel and we adjust.

05How often do I need X-rays and a cleaning?

Your dentist decides, based on your health and your history. Many patients come every six months and some need a different schedule. We'll agree one with you after your first visit.

06What is a deep cleaning?

A deeper cleaning below the gumline, which your dentist recommends after measuring your gums. It often takes more than one visit, and we explain why before we start.

07Do you see children, and from what age?

Yes, we see children and teens as well as adults. Call us with your child's age and we'll tell you what a first visit looks like.

08What is a dental emergency, and what should I do first?

Swelling that spreads to your face or neck, trouble breathing or swallowing, or bleeding that won't stop is an emergency: call 911. For a broken tooth or a toothache, call our office and we'll tell you what we can do today.

09Do you offer sedation, and who gives it?

We offer numbing and nitrous oxide, given by the dentist treating you with a trained team member in the room. Our services page explains how we watch over you. We don't offer deeper sedation; if you need it, we refer you.

10Can I get a written estimate before treatment?

Yes. After your exam your dentist lists the treatment, the visits it takes and what it will cost, and our front desk goes through your benefits with you. You can ask for the estimate in writing at any time.

11Do you speak Spanish?

Each dentist's languages are listed on their profile. Tell us your preferred language when you book, and we'll match you with someone who speaks it if we can.

12How do I cancel or change a visit?

Call or message us as early as you can and we'll move you to another time. Ask about our cancellation policy when you book.

Still have a question?
